Taxation system

Problem named:

Two thirds of Mexican companies and 60% of workers don’t pay taxes

We found:

Highly complex taxation system, lack of transparency on how the taxes are used, constant changes in the system, incomprehensible technical language, and corruption at all levels.

The solution was:

One simple and unique platform, that changes the communication strategy and challenges peoples’ perception of the government not as a benefit provider but rather as an administrator of peoples’ own wealth.

Description:

This is one of the hardest, most complex problems in the country. After an initial research we discovered that 2/3 of Mexican companies don’t pay taxes, and around 60% of workers belong to an illegal market.

The root of the problem is deep: a lack of trust in the government, caused by no clear accounting of tax expenditure. The tax system is highly complex, and sophisticated technical terminology is used. Even worse, the system is constantly changing, requiring all companies, big and small, as well as individuals, to hire expert accountants which makes it, in many cases, a cost impossible to afford.

It is a highly complex problem that required several interconnected solutions, some of them were: changing the names of institutions and procedures, so taxes are not perceived as a tribute to the government, but a participation in investing for the country’s development.

A simplified system to participate, all in one unique and easy to understand platform. Change in the mission and vision of the tax agency. Lowering taxes but increasing the number of ‘active participants’, this by using an electronic card, which registers all activities, and gives the opportunity to the participant to decide the final destination of a determined percentage of the taxes, making the whole process a democratic act in itself.

For this project all processes, cards, and computer interfaces were developed.
